2019 Honda Civic: 5 Ways the Sedan Races Ahead of its Competitors: The all-new 2019 Honda Civic is ready to roll out on Indian streets on March 7, 2019, as promised in the Auto Expo 2018. The sedan left Indian market in 2012 after a successful run of 6 years which didn’t go far enough all due to the absence of a diesel engine. Now, for the first time, the brand will be offering major first time features with the 10th gen Honda Civic in addition to the much-anticipated diesel engine and a high output powertrain. The prebookings are open for INR 31,000 at Honda’s authorised dealerships. Once launched, the Honda Civic 2019 will compete in the market with the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia.

Honda Civic 2019: 5 Ways the Sedan Races Ahead of its Competitors

1. Diesel Engine for the First Time

The eighth generation Honda Civic didn’t do best with the audience due to the lack of a diesel engine variant though the brand isn’t much keen on repeating the same blunder with the all-new 2019 Honda Civic. It gets 1.6-litre i-DTEC EarthDreams, DOHC, four-cylinder engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 120 PS and an utmost torque of 300 Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox while offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.8 kmpl, being best in class. The 1.8-litre i-VTEC SOHC petrol engine guarantees a power coefficient of 141 PS and a maximum torque of 174 Nm. It is mated to a CVT automatic transmission coupled with paddle shifters.

2. Remote Engine Starter in Petrol Variant

The all-new 2019 Honda Civic petrol variant is equipped with a first-in-class feature, the remote engine starter. It allows you to start the engine from a range of near 120 metres. One of the major benefits of this feature is allowing the customer with perfect indoor climate. If the temperature of the car is more than 7.5 degrees Celsius, the remote engine starter will automatically turn on the air conditioning while turning on the heating system with a temperature lesser than 7.5 degrees Celsius. It is one of the features that makes it a worthy investment set apart from its competitors in the same market segment.

3. Lane Watch System

The 10th generation Honda Civic has been equipped with a Lane Watch system which is first in its segment. The system puts up a real-time video of the left rear view mirror on the seven-inch touchscreen which further allows easy lane shifting on the highways. The video is captured through a camera that has been restored on the left-hand side. This Lane Watch System is not offered in any competitor in the sedan’s price range.

4. Electric Parking Brake with Brake Hold

One of the most convenient features of the all-new Honda Civic 2019 gets is the Electric Parking Brake with a brake hold switch that allows the driver to park efficiently while also freeing up more cabin space for a much higher console system. In order to engage the parking brake, all the driver need to do is pull the brake hold switch and do the alternate for releasing it. This feature allows the driver to avoid putting pressure on the brake every time he has to stop it at the traffic lights or while parking until resuming the throttle pedal.

5. Agile Handling Assist and Walkway Locking

The Honda Civic 2019 has been equipped with Agile Handling assist that allows the driver with utmost stability on the corners by actively applying brakes on the inside wheels. It allows better precision handling and maintains the performance regardless of how bad the road condition is. Another transformative feature that puts the Honda Civic on the best-buy list is the presence of Walk Away Locking feature that automatically locks the vehicle after 2.5 metres if the driver possesses the keys in his hands.
